My dad medical history
Writing medial history
I am writing to inquire about a consultation with Dr. Erwin Joe regarding my father's post-stroke condition and potential treatment options for aphasia recovery.

Current Condition: My father experienced an acute ischemic stroke approximately 1-2 weeks ago. His primary symptom is aphasia with difficulty in speech. Motor function remains intact.
Medical History:

Key MRI/MRA Findings:
• Acute left parieto-occipital lobe infarcts • Chronic lacunar infarcts in both lentiform nucleus with chronic small vessel disease • Mild narrowing at cavernous part of left ICA (atherosclerotic changes)
Echocardiogram Summary:
• LVEF: 66% (normal), Grade I diastolic dysfunction, no significant cardiac abnormalities
Current Treatment: He is on medication for secondary stroke prevention (blood thinners, diabetes, cholesterol, and blood pressure management) prescribed by specialists at UM Specialist Centre.
Consultation Request: We are seeking expert consultation on treatment options for aphasia recovery. Specifically, we would like to understand:
• Whether thrombectomy or any interventional procedures are still viable given the timeframe • Available treatment options beyond speech therapy and preventive medication—such as methods to enhance neuroplasticity, neurostimulation therapies (e.g., TMS, tDCS), or other emerging approaches for aphasia recovery • Recommended rehabilitation protocol for his specific case
Please advise on:
• Availability for consultation with Dr. Erwin • Any additional records or imaging needed (we can provide full reports) • Consultation fees and process • Whether teleconsultation is available for initial assessment
Thank you for your assistance.
