We got into 500 Global AI residency

Just sharing a story on how we got into this really cool community in KL.

So 500 global is one of the largest VC and they invest in a lot of prominent companies around here, e.g Grab, Vida, Carousell, etc.. and, Khailee, a legendary Malaysian startup pioneer (he built Says.com and some other stuff) is currently the managing director of 500 global southeasts Asia.

Anyway Khailee wanted to support the AI ecosystem or community in Malaysia and generously opened his office to some AI builders here. The OG of these builders are Joseph (Docuask founder0 and Isaac (CTO of Supa). And Joseph also created this AI community group AI Tinkerer's KL where they host bi-weekly co-working session or talks. And Joseph, like a cool guy he is, he wanted to support some of the really high-performing builders that he saw in the AI Tinkerer's, so he also generously bring them in to the 500 global budding AI residency. And now we have quite a number of people here. We also got invited as we got to know Joseph and gave talks in his AIT event.

It's a really cool place now tbh, the rule is you have to demo every thursday to show that all of us are constantly building and create the culture of constantly making progress and shipping. And all of the members are by referral basis, i think the main criteria is just to be very collaborative and helpful to everyone. We don't want people to gatekeep and compete in zero-sum away. But rather create a collaborative space where everyone can help each other and elevate the southeast Asian space into a startup hub like Silicon Valley for example.
